A Certificate Signing Request is a block of encoded text that a Certificate Authority can use to create an SSL certificate.
Typically, the Certificate Signing Request needs to be created on the server the SSL certificate will be installed on. This means a CSR will need to be made before requesting a third-party SSL certificate from an outside provider. This guide explains how to create a CSR.
