Here we will cover how to use the Revisions tool in WordPress to restore saved versions of pages or posts.
Using the Revisions tool can prevent having to restore a backup to retrieve previous website content.
The Revision tool allows you to restore a single page or post rather than the entire website.
Whether content was accidentally overwritten, or previous content needs to be restored due to website changes, the Revision tool can help.

Using the Revisions Tool
- Log into the site's WordPress dashboard
- Select Posts > All Posts from the panel on the left
- Locate and click the specific post to get to the Edit Post page
NOTE: Steps 3 and 4 will be the same to edit a page, only instead of clicking on Posts, click on Pages. - In the panel on the right, under the Status & visibility section, click on the # Revisions button
NOTE: The number of available revisions may differ from what is shown here. If there has only been one version of the page/post, this button will be hidden. - Use the slider at the top to view the different versions of the page/post
- Find the version of the page/post that you'd like to restore
- Click Restore This Revision for the instance with the desired content
TIP: If there is not an ideal revision point to restore from, a restoration may need to be done with a personal cPanel backup.
