Checking the DNS and Configuration Settings to Resolve the Error
- Log into cPanel
- Check the DNS to see if the MX record is pointing to the server
- If the MX record points to the server, the email client is likely misconfigured
- If this is the case, move on to step 3
- If the MX record is not pointing here, it will need to be pointed here, or the third-party email provider will need to be contacted to investigate the error
- If the MX record is pointed to the domain and the domain is pointed elsewhere, the MX record should be re-configured to point to a subdomain that points here
- If the MX record points to the server, the email client is likely misconfigured
- Re-enter the configuration client settings into the email client
- To find the email settings Locate Email Accounts in cPanel
- Locate the email account and then click Connect Devices
- Use the information provided to connect the email account
REPLACE: domain.com with the domain that is being worked on.

Instead of using mail.domain.com for the incoming/outgoing servers, the hostname of the server can also be used
