We do understand hardships occur; sometimes things happen and you need more time to renew your account due to difficulty meeting the payment deadline.
If you are having difficulties and payment is unable to be made for services by the upcoming due date, or if your bill item(s) were suspended and you need more time, the following information can be reviewed to determine what bill items are eligible for extensions and how to request one.
Payment extensions can only be granted for hosting plan bill items that meet certain criteria.
If you wish to renew any suspended bill items, or are unsure if you will be able to renew on time, please contact Customer Service to determine what options are available as soon as possible.

Bill Items with Extension Options
- Hosting Plans - are processed on the listed renewal date in AMP, unless it was purchased with a domain registration, in which case the hosting plan will attempt to renew 14 days prior to the listed renewal date in AMP along with the domain bill item(s)
- Suspension Process
- Grace Period - If payment is not made on the due date, an automatic 7-day grace period is granted before services are suspended
- Account Suspension - After the grace period your account is suspended and services are disabled, then an additional 7 days is granted before all account data is purged from the server
CAUTION: This data includes any website files, databases, emails, email accounts, and backups. Once purged, the account could only be restored from a provided backup.

Extensions Available but Not Recommended
- Domain Registrations - these bill items are processed 14 days prior to the listed renewal date in AMP
NOTE: This is to allow ample time to process payment if it initially fails prior to the actual expiration date with the registrar.
IMPORTANT: If a domain is even 1 day past the expiration date, the site and associated email accounts will not function until payment is processed.- Suspension Process
- Once a domain has gone 1 day past due, a grace period of 40 days begins that still allows renewal at the standard price
- Once the expiration grace period has ended, the domain enters redemption for an additional 40 days
NOTE: To regain ownership of a domain in redemption, a total fee of $99.99 is required ($80 redemption fee from the registrar, $19.99 annual renewal). - Once the redemption period has ended, the domain is removed from the registrar's system and made available to register at a normal price for the general public, which can be anywhere from 60-90 days after the original renewal date
IMPORTANT: Once the registration expires, Tucows may, at its discretion, elect to assume the registration and may hold it in its own account, delete it, or sell it to a third party.
