Here we cover the steps to create an FTP account in cPanel.
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) can be used to remotely connect to your server to upload and manage your website files.
The default login information for FTP is your cPanel username and password, but in the event you need to provide FTP access to another user, a separate FTP account can be created.

Create FTP Account
- Log into cPanel
- Navigate to FTP Accounts, located under the Files section
- Under Add FTP Account, enter a username in the Log In field
NOTE: An example screenshot with all fields completed can be found under step 7. - Select the domain that you want to be included in the username if it is different from the primary domain
NOTE: The username will include the selected domain. In the above example, the username would be example@imhkm.com. - Enter a strong password in the Password field or use the Password Generator button to create a random password, then enter the same password in the Password (Again) field
- Specify the directory the new user should have access to in the Directory field
IMPORTANT: Pay special attention to the Directory field. If you want the new FTP account to access all files on your account, leave this field blank. Otherwise, enter the directory for the FTP account to be restricted to. - Click Create FTP Account
